Questions

The things people most often ask before booking.

How long do I need to have held my licence?

At least 1 year in your current class to go up one (for example MR to HC, or HR to MC), or 2 years on a car licence to go straight to HR. The time must be within the last 5 years.

Can I go straight from HR to MC?

Yes. You don't need an HC licence first. You do need to have held your HR (or HC) for 12 months before TMR adds MC to your licence.

Do I need to do a written test?

For HR and HC, yes: the TMR road rules test, which you book and pay for with TMR. For MC there's no TMR written test; the theory is part of the course.

Who books and pays for the practical test?

We do. We book your TMR practical driving test, pay the test fee, and you sit it in our truck. It's all included in your package.

Where is the training?

All training is in Gympie. Students come from Gympie, the Sunshine Coast, Maryborough, Kingaroy, the South Burnett and Wide Bay.

What's the difference between automatic and Road Ranger?

Train and test in an automatic and your licence is limited to automatics. Train and test on an 18-speed Road Ranger gearbox and you get an unrestricted licence, so you can drive manual trucks too.

What's included in the price?

Your package hours with your trainer, your TMR practical driving test (booked and paid for by us) and the truck for the test. Extra lessons, or another test if you need one, cost extra. The TMR road rules (written) test for HR and HC is booked and paid for by you. Your booking confirmation sets out exactly what's included.

Is the MC course nationally recognised?

Yes. MC courses are run through RAISE Training (RTO 91655), for the nationally recognised unit TLIC4006 Drive multi-combination vehicle. RAISE Training issues your Statement of Attainment.

What do I bring on the day?

Your current driver licence and anything else Tom or the RTO has asked you to bring. Come fit to drive, and tell Tom about anything that might affect your driving safely.

Still got a question?

Ring Tom: he's happy to talk it through.
