Heavy Rigid HR
The Heavy Rigid Licence class available is a Heavy Rigid (Open) with an 18 speed roadranger gearbox.
Trainees that receive their HR open licence will obtain a Heavy Rigid licence with an open (O) endorsement on it.
If you have a Queensland provisional or open licence, you can learn to drive the next highest vehicle class.
Vehicles you can drive under this licence:
- A class LR vehicle A bus or truck (including a prime mover or a mobile crane) over 8t GVM with a maximum of 2 axles.
- A trailer with a maximum weight of 9t GVM.

Requirements to apply
For application of a Heavy Rigid (HR) licence class, you must:.
- Have held your class ‘C’ licence for a minimum period of 2 years OR
- Have held your class ‘LR’ or ‘MR’ licence for a minimum period of 1 year.
Additionally, you must have held the required licence class for a set period and this period:
- Must have occurred in the last 5 years.
- Can be continuous or made up of different individual lengths of time (excluding any time that your licence was suspended, surrendered, cancelled or expired).

LICENCE PROCESS
To apply for the next higher class of licence, you must:
Have held your current licence class for the required period of time (see above)
Pay and pass the Road rules test (This is done Through TMR independently From I Train Driver Training)
Pay the practical driving test fee, Book and pass the test (must be done through the Queensland Department of Transport)
As part of the services we offer I Train Driver Training will liaison and book the practical driving test with TMR of your choice, or as per availability)
